Added Photos: Richmond Pacific Railroad reference shots

The Richmond Pacific Railroad is a fascinating shortline. The RPRC operates on a dozen or so miles of ex-Southern Pacific industrial track. Formerly known as the Parr Terminal Railroad, it’s located in Richmond, California in the San Francisco Bay Area. The line is pretty well run and operates six days a week. It has a small fleet of EMD SW1200’s various blue and white paint schemes as well as a few yet to be painted. The line also uses a nice extended cupola caboose for a long backup move along the Waterside Drill track adjacent to the UP’s Cal-P line.

The Richmond Pacific interchanges daily with the UP and BNSF and sees a half a dozen BNSF moves each day between BNSF’s Richmond Terminal and the UP connection at Stege.

The RPRC also exchanges cars 5 days a week with the UP at Stege. The Richmond Pacific switches a dozen or so industries and exchanges cars daily with the BNSF. It has some street trackage, a couple of small yards and some warf tracks at the Port of Richmond. Not bad for a few miles of lightweight track just a mile from where I live!

About a year ago I took some reference shots of the Richmond Pacific Railroad. It was a rainy day and most are taken from inside the car. I’ll add some better weather shots to the gallery when I have time.
