Weathering N scale cars
I’ve been enjoying some attempts at weathering N scale cars. Mostly I’ve been following the techniques outlined in Tom Mann’s Weathering book (I highly recommend you pick up a copy if you are interested in weathering freight cars).
Here’s an example.
The results have mostly been pleasing and it is a lot of fun to hone the various techniques to achieve the results I’m looking for.
I have created a folder on my Flickr site of my results and many of the pictures have annotations with some commentary on how the car was weathered. Some of the cars have been weathered more than once as I have tried out the different techniques. You can access all my pictures on my Flickr site. And if you see a pocture you like on the little panel on the left, clicking on it will take you to that picture.
I plan to do more and it turns out that weathering is the sort of thing that requires little setup and tear down once you have the acrylics and chalks. Give it a try, it’s a lot of fun and can dramatically change the realism of your rolling stock.
Cheers,
Coxy
