Looking south from the stop sign in south 4th street, 1268 and crew are shoving a few tank cars into the Pacific Energy Partners loadout.

This is the view of the loadout through the fence. Nearby the security guard was getting pretty up tight, insisting that no pictures be taken. I reminded him that I was on a public street and he backed off.
PEP at the Richmond facility handles refined products, feedstocks and ethanol. They have many large storage tanks at this plant. A satelite view shows the loadout and tanks nicely though the picture is a few years old.

Here come the tank cars. The train is moving at walking speed. There are plenty of cars and people around so the crew walks along side the moving train to keep a look out.

The three cars and the locomotive take up most of the street at this point. Note the gate has been closed behind the locomotive. There are a lot of folks with time on their hands around this area, especially the scrap metal facility further up S. 4th. The RPRC closes the gates as soon as rolling stock is clear and crew are instructed to not turn their back on an open gate.

The cars roll in one by one. Three cars line up with the three loading (or is it unloading?) platforms. Note the short boom gate restricting entry to the plant.

One last shot of the locomotive before heading over to the Cal-P for some mainline action.
