Steel Pipe Loads
I picked up these pipe loads from Feather River Trains a week or two ago. They are good replicas of typical steel pipe loads seen on US railcars.
The loads come in several different lengths and colors. I like the colors on offer as they match the typical colors of these types of loads. The label suggests that they are probably only available from Feather River Trains.
The loads come pre-assembled. They fit well on flatcars, bulkhead flatcars and in 50 foot gondolas. I’m pleased at the way they spark up the appearance of an empty car.
I have not secured the loads to my cars as I don’t want to modify the cases. The loads are very light and could easily be secured with a few drops of rubber cement that could be removed from the load and the car if needed.
Here’s a few shots of individual cars with the loads in place.
MicroTrains 61’8” Bulkhead flatcar.
MicroTrains 61’8” Bulkhead flatcar.
Athearn 53’ Flatcar.
MicroTrains 50’ Fixed end Gondola.
E&C Shops 65’ Mill Gondola.
MicroTrains 61’8” Bulkhead flatcar.
I can’t recall the exact price for each but they are about $8-14 per pack, some packs contain two loads.
Hays Bros Garage also makes a whole range of loads for N scale cars including pipe, scrap, sand, coal etc.
