Latest eBay winnings - Auto-max's

I picked up five brand spanking new Auto-Max articulated cars for $15 each on eBay before Christmas. MSRP is $39.98!

The cars look white in the photo due to the flash but they are actually a grey-cream color which matches the prototype reasonably well. In fact, prototype car sides vary quite a lot  in terms of the shades of grey, depending on age or how much grime they have accumulated.

I see a lot of these cars at the BNSF Richmond terminal. They tend to stay in solid blocks but you can often find individual cars mixed in with the older ETTX’s. The Auto-Max cars are generally pretty clear of graffiti though that probably won’t last. Get your reference pics while you can! Here’s a panorama shot of the BNSF autorack unloading facility at Richmond, taken from the Point Richmond overlook.

those are not Gunderson built auto-max in the picture, they are auto stacks. ythe auto-max has tell tail circle cut holes as window/ventilation on a solid flat side body, the only corrigation is on the roof, and thats only some of them. i used to build the auto-max in portland oregon for gundersons inc.

as for the ones in the box... yep those are true auto-max nice find OMG im jelouse, that was the first rail car i ever build when i worked in the steel industry
