Richmond Pacific celebrates new low-emission locomotive retrofit with stylish dome car special

The Richmond Pacific, our local Class 3 switching line recently voluntarily retrofitted RPRC SW1200 2285 with a $200,000 emissions lowering retrofit package.

To celebrate and to draw attention to their community-oriented program, the RPRC hosted a community event gathering together staff, crew, dignitaries, customers and local residents for a special rail trip in two historic stainless steel dome cars - the AT&SF ‘Plaza Santa Fe’ and the CB&Q ‘Silver Solarium’ from the original California Zephyr. I was lucky enough to get an invitation and gladly came along for a great outing.

Here are a few shots from the ride in the dome car. The full set of annotated pictures can be found in a new prototype photo gallery. I hope you enjoy the pictures much as we all enjoyed the trip.
