Long live the BNSF

This is a not my picture but it captures a lot of what I like about modern railroading in the US. The sight of a bunch of modern diesels lugging a freight across the wide open landscape of the southwest is an enduring image for me.bnsf49081.jpgAdd to that a growing economy and demand for heavy transportation services and there should be plenty to enjoy for a time to come.

This is near Winslow AZ looking west. Marto and I visited here in 2007 and spent a pleasant couple of hours watching trains roll in and out of Winslow.
