Updated Modeling Standards page

I made a few modifications and additions to my modeling standards page today. I’m finding it very helpful to nail down my design criteria as I work on the design for the next layout. Each time I come back to this list, I notice something new that needs clarification or something that I hadn’t fully considered before.

With a little luck, I’ll be clear of a big project this month, paving the way to beginning construction on a “permanent” layout in the new year.

Here’s what I am considering…

I haven’t bothered with scenery in the CAD program to keep rendering speeds up.

My biggest decision layout-wise at this point is whether to build a small warm up layout to “blow off the cobwebs” before tackling this single-car garage size double deck layout. Prudence says do the small one first, impatience says jump right in to the biggie! The first approach takes longer, the second approach will likely lead to some disappointments.

Right now, I’m leaning toward the warm up approach. Either way, I’ll need to develop and prepare the space which will be a huge advantage over my current nomadic situation!
