Curved diamond crossings for the M&N RR - Part 7

A quick reality check.

To make sure the crossing was going to fit on the layout as planned, I set it over the track it will soon replace. In addition to confirming that the assembly will fit, this view gives me a good starting point for thinking about which wood ties need to be added before installing the crossing.

It’s looking pretty good considering the starting point for the project was a photo of this junction.

The photos give a good impression of how the diamond will look once installed and I’m pretty happy with alignment of each of the routes.

Here we’re looking along the branch that will cut the main on the other side of the layout at the second diamond. I really like how the curved guard rails turned out.

This shot is looking back down the industrial lead toward the yard. Note the huge gap between the stock rail and the points of the Peco switch in the middle foreground.

Next I’ll be setting wood ties in place.
